RIP SOA?

SOA isn’t dead it’s just REST’ing

It’s not often you can combine jokes about REST with Monty Python ‘parrot sketch’ references. I am therefore indebted to Anne Thomas Manes over at the Burton Group for proclaiming this week that ‘SOA is dead, long live services‘. There was a rapid response from David Chappell at Oracle, quickly pointing out “SOA is alive and well, no matter what it’s called“, “SOA Still Alive and Well – Sell it to the Business” and serving up some RoI Case Studies to provide quantification of the argument. I was also recently cheering this story from Sandy Carter over at IBM, but my favourite coverage so far has been from Joe McKendrick at ZDNet in his article “New Website for ‘the architecture formerly known as SOA’“. ..Continue reading..
